Techno Echo is a monthly meet-up for women & gender minorities to learn and share about audio + visual practices and technology. Featuring special micro performances and demonstrations by local artists/musicians followed by time for kōrero and connection. Our special guest artist for July is Synthetic Children.

Synthetic Children is the hardware electronic and poetry project of Ce (she/they), from Te Papaioea. Branching out from earlier ambient techno and harsh synth explorations, Synthetic Children is 2 stepping into brooding mangled creations of dubstep, post-jungle, and footwork. Unsettling soundscapes unfurl beneath rumbling bass as disparate vocal samples and occasional spoken word passages bring a dysphoric consciousness to the project. This is a sound heavily inspired by many rungle nights in Taonui Tinyclub, the hottest rave den in the Manawatū. Always keeping it dark, DIY, and vaguely danceable.
