This event will be held at Meow, 9 Edward Street, Te Aro, Wellington

Pōneke's Devils Gate Outfit has been thrilling audiences for the past 5 years with their unique blend of jazz composition, sonic exploration, improvisation and deep grooves. Featuring a lineup of some of Wellington's most prolific and experienced improvising musicians who have cultivated a dedicated regular audience which has followed them into becoming the most original and adventurous jazz band in the city.

This is the last gig vibes/electronics player Cory Champion will play with Devils Gate Outfit before relocating to Melbourne. Cory's been a big part of this group and a crucial musician in Wellington's music scene for many years. Please come down and help send him off in style! This was going to be an album release, however the LPs have been held up in production so that will happen down the track.

Of their first album, released in 2023, critic John Fenton states 'The album is bursting with restless spirits, and I am not surprised that such a powerful genie was let out of the bottle so quickly. There are multitudes of spirits hovering over the recording, fragmentary echoes of Ornette and Miles, but the predominant voices are those which haunt the ragged windy Wellington coastline.'

$20 presale tickets available via Meow
