Techno Echo is an event for women, non-binary and trans creators to share knowledge around sound & light technology. Featuring special micro performances and demonstrations by local artists/musicians followed by time for kōrero and connection. This month's special guest is Flo Wilson (they/ she) - a composer, performer and artist from Tāmaki Makaurau/ Aotearoa based in Berlin, Germany.

Their diverse practice spans choral-based performance, immersive spatial sound and video installations, contemporary dance scoring, and collaborations with songwriters including Tāmaki rapper, Jess B.

Flo's compositions often blur the boundaries between organic and synthetic elements, weaving together intricate layers of sound to create lush sonic tapestries.

Their latest work is a very special multi-sensory work for six silos, six loudspeakers, and six singers taking place in Tāmaki Makaurau's Silo Park. 'In the Stars' draws inspiration from the spectral and spatial possibilities of contemporary organ music, as well as the medieval choral traditions of Hildegard von Bingen.

Flo's debut EP '(Please) Keep Breathing' was released on tape in 2018 by New Zealand experimental label mfmp. Their major new sound work 'Prelude to a Requiem' was released bio-digitally through Saplings Records in 2022. This release raised enough money to plant over 1,000 mangrove trees through Eden Re-Forestation Projects to help fight coastal erosion.

Flo has also worked as a professional audio engineer for RNZ and holds a first-class honours degree in Composition - Sonic Arts from Te Kōkī – New Zealand School of Music.
