Body

Nonconnah is an experimental music collective based in Memphis, Tennessee, headed by the husband-and-wife duo of Zachary Corsa and Denny Wilkerson Corsa.

Nonconnah creates haunting soundscapes and collages, often using antique or unusual instrumentation and obsolete recording technology to draw on themes of memory and the past, the supernatural, and the liminal spaces where the man-made and natural worlds meet.

Releases such as 2021's Songs for and About Ghosts are filled with warped lo-fi guitars, field recordings, grainy samples, and acoustic instrumentation, arranged into dreamlike sequences. The Corsas draw on a wide range of sonic influences, from shoegaze and post-rock to dark ambient to recurring motifs of old time/Appalachian mountain music.

A highly collaborative effort, Nonconnah has collaborated with past and present members of bands like Deerhoof, Swans, Earth, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, A Silver Mt. Zion and many more.
