Hot Rugs Deaf Edge - Carpet diem! HOT RUGS is the recent unholy fusion of the 60s brassy hypno-grooves of Hot Drugs with the spoken-word free-form electro-beats of Cavalier & Bremworth. An indie rock‘n’roll aesthetic with brass instead of guitars, free-wheeling vocals and a rhythm section locking in the party grooves. This dad-anti-rock seven-piece consists of the legendary Bek Coogan (Cortina, Full Fckn Moon) on crooning, yelping, fluffing and prepared harmonica; Cavalier ‘Rob’ Spaniel as raconteur extraordinaire, fever dream of flailing self-help groups and poetry slams everywhere; the irrepressible duo of Sharon Boyd and Andre Chalky (Crash Bandihoot, The Wart) on brass; Simon Cumming (Beach Balls, Deaf Edge) on synths and effects; Matt Pants (Raskolnikovs, The Golden Awesome) on bass; and Jo Contag (The Golden Awesome, Cloudboy) on drums. https://vimeo.com/1216269208
Deaf Edge are a duo of Simon Cuming (electronics) and deaf artist Mary Jane Thomson (vocals and keyboards). Experimental, ambient electronics with spoken word poetry. https://deafedge.bandcamp.com/
