A night of taonga pūoro, drums, percussion, modular synths, and surprise sounds. Two improvised duos and a combined whā-tet. First up, uri of Paikea, Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa and Ruby Solly, followed by the Ouncles of Riki Pirihi and Alistair Fraser, minds behind albums such as 'Rangatira'  and 'Mahurangi. Rounding out the evening is a whā-nau. Come and join us for some intergenerational transmission.

Alistair Fraser has been researching, making, performing and composing with ngā taonga pūoro since 1999. He has extensively researched Moriori and Māori taonga pūoro from Rekohu/Chatham Islands.

Ruby Solly is a Kai Tahu musician, taonga pūoro practitioner, music therapist and writer living in Wellington. She has played with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Whirimako Black, Trinity Roots, and The New Zealand String Quartet as both a cellist, and a player of traditional Māori instruments (ngā taonga pūoro).

Riki Pirihi (Ngāti Wai/Patuharakeke/Ngāti Māhanga Hourua) is a drummer, electronic musician, producer, and conductor based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa. He is currently performing with Orchestra of Spheres, Noa Records, AJA and Mara TK. He performs regularly with/as Cave Circles, Tuone Conduction Ensemble (as conductor), Orchestra of Spheres, Aja, DJ Oboe, and Clear Path Ensemble.

Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa is a drummer mostly based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, who has played with the likes of French For Rabbits, Glass Vaults, Ebony Lamb and Dateline.
