Introducing Techno Echo, a monthly event for Femme & Non-binary music creators to share knowledge around sound & light technology. Featuring special micro performances and demonstrations by local artists/musicians followed by time for kōrero and connection.

Techno Echo occurs every 1st Monday of the month 7-9pm

This month’s special guests CRONE share with us their electronic process and sound journey.

CRONE is the experimental techno duo of Emily Berryman and Lucy Reid. Birthed in the cold depths of Ōtepoti, they are now based in the capital city. Their sound is underpinned by a sustained sense of drama, stirring effected live loops and samples into an intoxicating mix that evokes the space in between dance and drone, dark and melancholic.

Best known for their high-powered and intoxicating live sets, they have played support for the likes of international acts Ptwiggs and Betty Apple, who share their affinity for dramatic sounds and bold aesthetics.

They have also performed at and facilitated events for MESH, the collective the pair established after moving to Pōneke in 2018. While currently on hiatus, MESH has been instrumental in creating spaces for local artists and audiences to experiment and come together in a supportive environment.

The duo released their sophomore EP second skin in 2021 via Berlin-based platform The Brvtalist.

This is an all ages, inclusive event for women and gender minorities to learn and share about audio and visual practices and technology in a supportive and casual environment. We are offering space to nurture friendship and collaboration within our community through celebratory exploration of creative tools.

Sitting on the keyboard, in the centre of the image is a pot of red, pink, orange and white flowers, with a purple vocal microphone poking through the flowers, pointed at the keyboardist's position. Also on the keyboard is an effects pedal.
