Ian-John Hutchinson

Most of the image is an istallation at a gallery. There are pieces of broken instruments on a table, and out of one of these items there is a leafless, twiggy, branch sticking up. Ian-John is far in the background looking at some other art.

Ian-John was born in Auckland and currently lives in South Korea. The Sounds colonize his time, abuse his income and unrelentingly exploit him to multiply and reiterate themselves across time-space…merely in vein defiance of oblivion. The exact mechanism by which The Sounds exert undue influence over Ian-John is not yet well understood, however the following list shows the extent of this chronic condition:

2015 - Ddakji Series starts (an intermittent event for group improvisation: latest edition Ddakji#17 May 2023)
2015 - Second Heard Sound Shop opens at ArtSoup in Chuncheon. Subsequent exhibitions: Seoul Museum of Art SeMA, Hapjeong Sagakhyeong Gallery, Seoul Oil Tank Culture Park, Namhaedo Space Mijo, Gwangju Barim Artspace, Chuncheon Tamoni Artspace)

A concerning indicator of his inability to defy the will of The Sounds is that he has also attempted, in recent years, to make broadcasts for Framework Radio, Station Topology and Audio Foundation AFM.
