This event will be held at Meow, 9 Edward Street, Te Aro, Wellington

Pyramid Club and KiwiJahzz present Wellington avant jazz all stars Devils Gate Outfit, performing live at Meow to release their second LP, 'When the Rivers Run Red'. Released on NZ label KiwiJahzz, the album was recorded live at Meow in 2024. Discounted LPs available at the gig. It's also vibes/electronics player Cory Champion's last Devils Gate Outfit gig before he relocates to Melbourne.

Pōneke's Devils Gate Outfit has been thrilling audiences for the past 5 years with their unique blend of jazz composition, sonic exploration, improvisation and deep grooves. Featuring a lineup of some of Wellington's most prolific and experienced improvising musicians who have cultivated a dedicated regular audience which has followed them into becoming the most original and adventurous jazz band in the city.

Of their first album, released in 2023, critic John Fenton states 'The album is bursting with restless spirits, and I am not surprised that such a powerful genie was let out of the bottle so quickly. There are multitudes of spirits hovering over the recording, fragmentary echoes of Ornette and Miles, but the predominant voices are those which haunt the ragged windy Wellington coastline.'

$20 presale tickets available via Meow
