In marking the passage of time, anxiety towards what has been and what will be disappears into the process of subdivision. These fragments, as they are produced, provide no room for focussed speculation. The body is allowed to move through the soothing dissociative stim-state while producing a tangible object that obscures the maker’s alienation, demoralisation, and lack of direction into a thinly veiled mirage of the opposite. The formed images have little utility. Little conscious thought occurs, but as in dreams the impossible problems are left to churn and belch into more consolidated forms that illicit less panic. The past is recorded. The future is provided for. The present is ignored. Eventually it may be possible to achieve loss or even death without the pain of anticipation.
Countless encroachments are ever-present, finding vitality. A still frame, a static event, a discrete product. All present a specific concern. There is ceaseless discomfort in stasis. Subdivision and it's cushioning reside within motion. Jostling concerns erase the individual, funnelling into a wash, a drill, a tumble, a fleeting feeling of relinquished responsibility. Divide and increase. Merge and decrease. Paths form and wend their ways, whatever they might be.
I wonder, without truly wanting to know the answer, if small pressure changes are constantly being exerted on our brains. Kei te akiaki tonu te tinana i te roro, i te whatumanawa, kia tere, kia tūpato, kia hikimoke.
I noho tou tīrairaka ahau.
E noho tou tīrairaka ana ahau.
Ka noho tou tīrairaka ahau mō ake tonu atu.
Tē taea e koe te kite i tōku whiore.
He whiore hume tonu.
Ich mach’s schon.
Ich mache die Sachen.
So wie ich die mache.
Sind sie einfach so?
Um die Sachen zu machen,
Und ganz schön so,
Tu’ ich sie gerne machen.
Wie es immer sein soll.
