Blip, blop, clickety clack, bleep! What’s that spinning sound?
SPIN was a free, site specific mechanical sound installation created for in the Cable Car Museum by local sound artists Daniel Beban, Isaac Smith & Zak Argabrite. The spinning wheels in Cable Car’s Original Winding Room activate a mixture of real and synthetic sounds. The sounds of the winding room engines are amplified while shadows cast through the spokes of the wheels trigger light sensors which in turn send MIDI data to synths, samplers, creating a ever-changing sound collage.
