In this episode Dan is joined by the man behind the tapes of Stink Magnetic, Dylan Herkes. Oddly, they only play lathe cuts and crusty vinyl, an extra fuzz for the warmth of saturated surf. They talk smoke filled gigs, small town scenes, and recording with one mic for the kit.

Dylan 'Phats' Herkes is an important figure for the trash garage sound that bloomed in late 90's Aotearoa. Releasing tapes, small run lathe cuts, and cds on the Stink Magnetic label. The label represented many groups, and many permutations of groups, but was also an outlet for much of Dylan's music, although his name seldom appeared; mysterious tape man, one man band, and relentless weaver of guitar lines of propulsion, Dylan helped define the garage surf aesthetic for Aotearoa.
