Dancing in your head: episode 19 - Andy Wright

In this episode Dan and Rita are joined by drummer, keyboard player, and artist, Andy Wright. Andy and Dan discuss approaches to listening and playing in the wide variety of musical contexts Andy finds himself in. All of the music in this episode is unreleased and from Andy's personal archives; from meditative band hypnosis, to splatter improvising duos, Andy shares sonic manifestations from his broad spectrum.

Andy Wright is a Pōneke based polyrhythmic polymath. An exceptional drummer with a powerfully light touch that drives music forwards and on detours of subtle relationships and nuanced listening. Drumming in groups such as Full Fucking Moon and Orchestra of Spheres he has often brought the party, and can also be found improvising regularly at Pyramid Club in more deep listening contexts. His keyboard skills are renowned particularly with his epic film soundtrack manifestations under the name Fistkisser. He is also the designer of the Pyramid Club logo and an artist of free gesture that embrace the power of drawing to move beyond the familiar and nameable and into the ambiguous.
