Dancing in your head: episode 11 - Hermione Johnson

In this episode Nell is joined by the extraordinary and vital keyboard musician Hermione Johnson. Hermione plays tracks from solo works, collaborations, and local musicians she enjoys.

Hermione Johnson is a Tāmaki Makaurau based keyboardist who explores the full range of timbral possibilities that a high tension piano can bring. She prepares and coaxes unique sounds from this ubiquitous instrument. Her style can be lyrical and meditative, through to aggressive percussion and full bodied freneticism. A long time improvisor and collaborator she has appeared at all the avant festivals bringing her classical chops to chaotic outcomes.
